Founded and curated by food and drink enthusiast and former nightclub DJ Marilyn Johnson, Philly Grub is a Philadelphia food news, reviews, and scene blog showcasing all that is good about eating and drinking in Philadelphia and South Jersey.
Founded in 2008, Philly Grub is one of Philadelphia’s longest-running blogs. Many have come and gone over the years, but Marilyn’s love of the city and the dining scene has never wavered in over 9 years. Her love of food writing and social media isn’t a passing fad or hobby for her; it is her true passion.
Philly Grub shines a bright spotlight on the amazing food and drink to be found in the Delaware Valley and sometimes beyond. We promise no clickbait here, just honest reporting; though you may see a side of occasional wisecracking and witty banter.
Philly Grub shares Philadelphia area restaurant news, events and occasionally some reviews. You might also see reviews of food products from local food entrepreneurs or other local food-based stories. From fine dining to fast food, if it has to do with food in the Philadelphia area, we’re on it.
Marilyn is also a freelance writer for Chowhound’s Philadelphia City Guide and new digital magazine Philly Views.
Philly Grub has been recognized by the following:
In 2015, Philly Grub was named one of Philly’s must-follow food scene accounts by Billy Penn! Thanks Billy Penn!
In 2009, Philly Grub was named one of Mashable’s “tastiest” Twitter accounts to follow. That’ll tell you how “old-school” we are! Yep, we’ve been at the social media foodie game a long time.
Work With Philly Grub!
We LOVE hearing from brands, restaurants, local food entrepreneurs, and PR reps. We especially enjoy attending restaurant preview events, media events, press conferences, grand openings, sampling new menus, etc. We’d be absolutely delighted for an invitation to dine at your Philadelphia or South Jersey restaurant and provide a review on the blog and share with our readers, Twitter followers (16,200+) and Instagram followers (5,700+), and Facebook friends/fans (1,600+). Feel free to add us to your media list for consideration.
