On Wednesday, July 26 from 5 p.m. until 12 midnight, pioneering craft brewery Saint Benjamin Brewing Company will host Jamaican Jerkfest with guest Chef David Ansill.

For $50 per person, guests will enjoy a tempting Prix Fixe Menu of Jamaican fare, including three courses and a 12-ounce pour of a limited release batch of Export Stout, barrel-aged in Maggie’s Farm La Rve Rum Barrels. Head brewer Andrew Foss will be tapping this special beer at 5:30 p.m. and pouring it straight from the barrel inside Saint Benjamin’s Taproom.

Chef David Ansill’s Jamaican-inspired menu will also be available Prix Fixe or a la carte and will include:

  • Salt Fish Fritters, salted cod with potato and chiles, breaded and fried and served with spicy mango ketchup

  • Coconut Shrimp, sweet coconut-coated shrimp with pineapple-ginger coleslaw

  • Okra and Red Stripe, beer-battered okra with Scotch bonnet mayo

  • Jerk Chicken, marinated and grilled with secret “granny” sauce and served with French fries or white bread

  • Steamed Roast Fish, fish filets steamed in coconut milk with garlic, ginger and vegetables

  • Curried Goat, slow-cooked in coconut milk with cho cho and pumpkin

  • Dirty Banana, a new take on the traditional frozen banana, coffee and rum drink served in Jamaica, featuring only local Pennsylvania spirits infused with Saint Benjamin’s barrel-aged coffee liqueur

In addition, Saint Benjamin will offer VIP Brewhouse Seating and Brewery Tours throughout the evening. Proprietor Tim Patton will have a full list of brewery favorites on draft, including their Pilsner Prosim, a Czech-style pilsner which recently claimed top honors in the Best Lager Style category at Craig LaBan’s Brewvitational Awards and Franklin’s Abbey Dubbel, a Belgian-style Dubbel which tied for first place in the Best New Beer category at those same Brewvitational Awards.
