Did You Know: SØLE Artisan Ales Received Five Philly Beer Scene Awards Nominations in Its First Year?

In fact, every beer SØLE Artisan Ales widely distributed this past year (except for one) has been nominated for a Philly Beer Scene Award.

Quite the accomplishment from a relatively new brew that you’ve probably never heard of unless you are a hardcore craft beer aficionado.

As Pennsylvania’s only gypsy brewery, SØLE’s founder and sole employee Joe Percoco brews beer at established breweries and distributes mainly to the Philadelphia region.

Percoco started his brewing career at a brew pub in the Poconos working his way up to head brewer at the age of twenty. Deciding to broaden his knowledge of the craft, he took up positions alongside Brew Masters at places such as Weyerbacher, to learn different styles, equipment and techniques.

A brewery focused trip to Europe inspired him to establish his own brewery which focuses on culinary and curious ales. While becoming popular and acclaimed in Philadelphia, SØLE is not Philadelphia-based. Homebase is Emmaus, PA in the Lehigh Valley.

SØLE is not only popular among industry leaders, but also consumers. The brewery started canning in January 2016 and held its first can release at Susquehanna Brewing Company in Pittston PA during the weekend of snow storm Jonas. Beer fans traveled from as far as New Jersey during the storm to claim a case before it was distributed to a select number of retailers.

The following can releases of Good Good and Turbo Nerd has attracted hundreds of beer drinkers to North Eastern PA before their limited distribution in the Philadelphia region.
