Happy Philly Foodie Friday! Here are some of our favorite Philly food news stories that made headlines the week of August 9th.
Bottle Shop BeerLOVE is Now Open at 714 South 4th Street
Queen Village beer lovers can now pick up local, craft and import beers at BeerLOVE, an independent bottle shop, located on S. 4th Street, across the street from Essene Market. They will also have beers on tap. Passyunk Post has the first pics of the interior. Lookin’ good!
Sabrina The Teenage Witch Helped Old El Paso Give Out Free Tacos at Spruce Street Harbor Park
At first when we read that Melissa Joan Hart was going to be at Spruce Street Harbor Park giving out free tacos with Old El Paso, we thought it was a joke. But she really did show up and posed for pictures with fans. Old El Paso was in town promoting their new Soft Shell Taco Boats.
Andy’s Chicken is Now Open in Fishtown
Korean Fried Chicken made its debut in Fishtown this past week with the opening of Andy’s Chicken at 2001 Memphis Street. The menu includes eight varieties of fried chicken as well as rice dishes. Sides include onion rings, regular french fries, sweet potato fries, waffles, cole slaw, macaroni salad, and butter egg rice. Word on the street is positive so far.
Center City Olive Garden Closes
I posted a picture last night on Twitter, and Philly.com’s Michael Klein (“The Insider”) got around to writing about it today. Many people are upset about this because, believe it or not, not everybody is anti-chain around here. Not to mention it catered to tourists on a budget and it was something they are used to. Plus… hello…unlimited soup, salad and breadsticks??
