Waffatopia Featured on Great American Food Finds on Food Network
Our favorite Liege-style Belgian waffle maker, West Chester’s Waffatopia was featured on the debut of Food Network’s Great American Food Finds hosted by local boys Adam and Andrew Erace of Green Aisle Grocery.
David Katz Joins Honeygrow as Culinary Director
The Insider reports that David Katz, formerly of Meme, has been brought onto the honeygrow team to create new menu items and ensure quality as the company plans to expand in the region. They plan on opening 4 more restaurants this year – 1 in University City, 1 in Hoboken, and 2 in Delaware.
Sweetgreen Construction Underway at 1821 Chestnut Street
DC-based healthy-food chain Sweetgreen plans to add a 4th location in the Philadelphia area at 1821 Chestnut Street. HughE Dillion of Philly Chit Chat has pictures.
Tuk Tuk Real Re-Opens as Circles on South Street
The Thai-Mexican fusion eatery closed a couple of months ago and has been undergoing renovations to re-open as Circles, Chef Alex Boonphaya’s popular Thai restaurant. This is the 3rd location for Circles. They re-opened Tuesday, August 4th and served up free food and champagne to celebrate.
South Philly’s Cochon Has Closed; To Re-Open as Square Pie
Passyunk’s pork-centric Cochon has closed after 8 years of serving pig-happy patrons at 801 East Passyunk Ave. Square Pie, the pizzeria which is currently located in the tiny 600 Catherine Street location, will take its place. Square Pie is owned by the same people.
Townsend Nominated For Bon Appetit’s Best New Restaurants List
East Passyunk’s Restaurant scene is always on fire, we know this. So it comes as know surprise that fancy French Restaurant Townsend by Chef Townsend Wentz has been nominated as Best New Restaurant on Bon Appetit’s list. Tomorrow they will narrow the list down to 10. Mike Solomonov’s Center City hummus-eria Dizengoff is also on the list. Good luck!
